"He has made everything beautiful in its time." — Ecclesiastes 3:11
Every garden has seasons.
There are days of planting and days of harvest. There are seasons of rapid growth and seasons when the soil appears quiet. To someone unfamiliar with gardening, the quiet seasons can look like failure.
But the gardener knows better.
Roots are stretching where no one can see. The soil is restoring what was spent. Pruning is making room for healthier growth. What seems like stillness is often preparation.
Our walk with Christ is much the same.
We naturally celebrate the harvest seasons—the answered prayers, the open doors, the visible blessings. Yet God often does some of His deepest work in the waiting. Seasons of uncertainty, disappointment, or quiet obedience are not empty. They are places where faith grows beneath the surface before it is revealed above it.
Ecclesiastes reminds us that God has appointed a time for everything. He is never hurried, never late, and never careless with the seasons He allows in our lives.
The Gardener sees what we cannot.
A seed buried beneath the soil has not been forgotten. It is becoming what it was created to be.
Perhaps today feels like a season of waiting. Maybe you've prayed for change that hasn't come, or you're faithfully tending responsibilities that seem unnoticed.
Do not mistake hidden work for wasted work.
The same God who brings blossoms in spring also watches over winter. He knows when to plant, when to prune, and when to bring the harvest.
Trust the Gardener.
He has never wasted a season.
Father,
Help me trust You in every season. When growth feels slow and answers seem distant, remind me that You are always at work, even when I cannot see it.
Give me patience to remain faithful, courage to keep planting, and hope to wait for the harvest You have promised in Your perfect time.
Teach me to trust the Gardener more than the season.
Amen.
